We are deeply concerned by the threats posed by climate change to the peoples of Africa. We have seen and experienced the impact of floods, droughts and other extreme weather events in our region.

Mother Earth, our common home, has been pushed to the brink. We call on you to prevent catastrophic climate change by committing to ambitious actions to reduce carbon emissions. We call on the governments of Africa and the world to stand with people on the frontlines of the climate crisis, and in particular the vulnerable communities whose voices need to be heard. Winning the fight against climate change starts with protecting the people whose lives and livelihoods are most at risk.

Climate change erodes our ability to get enough to eat. Women are at the forefront of the fight against hunger. Raise your voice and join us  to demand our leaders provide more investment in food production and commit to beating climate change.

Oxfam and Pan African Climate Justice Alliance in collaboration with Africa Climate Change Resilience Alliance (ACCRA), African Institute of Agrarian Studies (AIAS), Africa Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC),  Climate Action Network Uganda (CAN-U), EJN, ESAFF, Natural Justice,  Rural Women’s Assembly,  SADC-CNGO and Zimbabwe Union of Journalists are conducting the Women Food Climate Campaign.

This is an Africa-wide campaign engaging organisations from across the continent. It targets the issue of climate change affecting our ability to get enough to eat. The campaign is focused on strengthening women food producers and achieving resilience in communities to the effects of climate change. The overall aim is: “African governments, and the world must finance and invest in flexible and long term funding mechanisms for climate resilience that promotes the rights of small scale women producers and vulnerable communities to address food security by 2020 https://essays4u.net/. “

As part of the campaign, 1st of  June 2015 is the Multi Country Lobby Day. This lobby day sees stakeholders directly engage Egyptians embassies and French embassies in their countries by either handing over the lobby letters in person or having a formal discussion with the two embassies. The gist of the event will be influencing Egypt as the chair of CAHOSCC to lead the fight against climate change. Egypt will chair CAHOSOCC meeting in the margins of the summit (two weeks after the lobby day) Lobby Day will be used to push the Civil Society agenda in the CAHOSCC meeting. French government will be targeted to ensure Africa CSO wishes and expectations of their presidency (COP 21) are taken to consideration.
